The Director of People and Culture opportunity with Faris Team isn't your typical HR role! We are looking for a leader with a passion to grow our largest and most important asset, OUR PEOPLE. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will make an impact by onboarding, recruiting, training, establishing performance and feedback rhythms, building our employer brand, driving company culture and employee engagement.

Here’s What A Day In The Life of A Faris Team Director of People And Culture Looks Like:

  • Lead in all areas of People and Culture: including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, compensation, performance management, training and development, policy, and procedures, change management, health and safety, and team event planning/rewards

  • Continually evaluate Faris Team’s employer brand in support of our high-performance culture

  • Lead the recruitment process including, drafting job descriptions, screening resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews, administering pre-employment testing, reference/background checks, managing the offer process, and onboarding new hires

  • Hire high-quality team members that share our values while building scalable hiring processes

  • Ensure we have the right people in the right seats including anticipate and plan for future talent

  • Maintain, organize, and coordinate accurate and comprehensive records, electronic and paper files

  • Build strong working relationships with the Leadership Team as a representative of HR

  • Assist with the performance review processes - sending email notifications/reminders of outstanding reviews, updating scorecards, and supporting staff, coaches and leadership with their reviews as required

  • Assist in all onboarding of new staff and setting them up for success, follow up 30 days after start 

  • Setup and maintain BambooHR (HR system) profiles

  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews and make action recommendations

  • Develop, communicate, and implement HR policies and procedures 

  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR federal and provincial requirements

  • Coaches and trains managers in their communication, feedback, recognition, and interaction responsibilities with the team members who report to them

  • Assist the Payroll department with administration of group benefits plan when required

  • Provide employment verification letters and correspondence with the appropriate parties

  • Establishes the company wage and salary structure, pay policies, and oversees the variable pay systems within the company including bonuses and raises

  • Leads competitive market research to establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain superior staff

  • Maintains Company Employee Handbook in Trainual

  • Maintains HR processes in Trainual

  • Participate and provide support with special HR projects


  • University degree, preferably in Business/Human Resources

  • Minimum 10 years of business experience with 5 of those years specifically in HR (operations experience considered an asset)

  • Clear business acumen, evidencing the use of insights in the business environment to improve talent and business outcomes

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Experience working with leadership, senior management

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work within a fast-paced and team-based organization, effectively partnering with peers, senior business leaders, managers

  • In-depth knowledge of labour law and HR best practices

  • In-depth knowledge of Employment Standards Act legislation

  • Experience with BambooHR is a plus
